Random Adventures

It’s been a long week. And by long, I mean cold.

There have only been a handful of adventures this week. Unfortunately, that huge Tuesday deadline really put a dent in my plans.

Today, though, I made one of my favorite go-to home meals, Chicken and Sweet Potatoes in the Crockpot. The recipe is so easy that I totally forgot to take photos until it was already in the crock. So, here you go:

Before (in the beautiful morning light):

After (in the dim night light):

The long week didn’t stop me from eating this, either:

I had no idea this was an American candy bar. Why didn’t anyone tell me before?!

Or this:

Vegetarian Nuggets with Spinach and Cheese Fritter … with honey mustard for dipping!

Or even drinking this!

Pre-deadline Cappuccino from Le Flagey’s

Mostly, the week went like this, though:

Taco Soup!

Cappuccino with my German Colleague. VERY. GERMAN. COLLEAGUE. πŸ™‚

And a long week ending last night in a very interesting beer … this is a “La Chouffe” : “an unfiltered blonde beer, which is re-fermented in the bottle as well as in the keg.Β  It is pleasantly fruity, spiced with coriander, and with a light hop taste.”

And, surprise! I got two packages this week!

One, from my favorite cousin and her boys, who sent me this:

Second surprise! My favorite former-New Orleanian-but-always-a-New Orleanian-in-her-heart sent this:

Yes, indeed. There’s going to be some serious baking in this house. Or, well, actually, in the house of my Catalan-Belgian friend, but she doesn’t know it yet.

Happy Saturday!
