A little bit of home in every bite…

A little bit of home ... sort of

It’s been rather difficult to figure out when to cook here with my busy schedule and especially challenging to read labels in another language. In French, no less.

I figured that for now, I should stick with my go-to favorite: tri-colored spiral pasta with chicken and mushrooms. It took me a half hour in the grocery to realize that “ail” is garlic, and that “ail en poudre” is garlic powder. Add sea salt, onion powder, black pepper, and olive oil, and you’ve got a quick yet tasty ten minute meal. A little Tony’s would have been nice, but I’ll take what I can get. (Hint hint care packages) Makin’ groceries only goes so far here. ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I’ll try my hand at finding some red beans to cook this weekend. I only wish I had the capacity to make a mean meal like my favorite chef!

Happy Friday, NOLA.
