Confessions

I have a confession to make. Well, maybe more than one. No, there are no videos to go with this, or even lyrics. It’s perfectly acceptable and mostly responsible … it’s even a one-parter, unlike our old friend, Usher.

Let’s start with the most ridiculous: I’ve stopped putting Tony’s in my scrambled eggs. *gasp*

Yes, you read that right … just a little black pepper and that’s it. I add turkey and salsa (sometimes) and sharp cheddar (always), but yes, just black pepper for seasoning. Don’t worry, I haven’t given up Tony’s, but there’s something nice about the taste of fresh eggs that are perfectly scrambled.

I’ve also brought back a favorite: eggs in a basket! When I was growing up, my father used to make this for me all the time. It’s so easy, and tastes oh so good.

Next up:
I have created five drafts of new posts between Thanksgiving and today, yet I haven’t finished them. Maybe I was doing too much napping? (For those who know me personally, you know this is unlikely)

Next:
Tori Amos says that Confucius does his crossword with a pen. Well … *deep breath* … I always eat my ice cream with a special spoon. Yes, you read that right … I have a special ice cream spoon. Just for eating ice cream. No, I do not use it for anything BUT ice cream. It’s the perfect size.

Wait? More confessions?!
Yes. Just two more.

That spoon up there was …. accidentally …. lifted …. from a hotel bar in Prague in 2007. Read between the lines.

Finally:
This post is a menagerie of those many drafts mentioned, intertwined in this new post to help me get caught up in my brain for 2014. Blame it on holidays, travel, time, or blame it on me. We’ve lost a number of people in the last six months, so I’m sure that’s a large part of it, too. More on that later.

For now, though, Bonne Année, everyone … and Happy Mardi Gras! Stay safe. If you need dining advice for the next few days, don’t forget our past post on staying sane and dining well in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

Enjoy:
