Waffles, Spring and QG (A follow-up)

So, just for the record, I hate starting a post with an apology, but this one is kind of a long time coming. Since spring. Yep. You read that right: SPRING.

So, let’s get it out of the way: I’m sorry. You see, I have been busy, but that should be no excuse. QG, I am sorry. You’ve done nothing but be sweet to us every time we come in, share your stories and our laughter and you’ve been always so welcoming. So. Here it is. The post I promised. πŸ™‚

For those of you who don’t know (how could you not?), I frequent a lovely place here in Brussels (Etterbeek to be exact): QG (Quartier General). It’s a friendly place, a close place, an easy place. A place where the owner says hello to you when you enter, or where Alex or his co-staff treat you like a person, not a table. Somewhere a person can go, rest, relax and have anything they might want. Just a beer or a glass of light house wine? No problem! Just a cappuccino? No problem! Lunch and a dessert? No. Problem. There’s something for everyone on the menu, and frankly, it’s all quite tasty and the presentation is always lovely. Occasionally, though, the presentation is absolutely superb. For example:

There are a million more photos (like a huge cheeseburger or two!), and yes, perhaps sometimes I can’t order anything but the mozzarella and tomato salad, but it’s just so wonderful and fresh, I can’t pass it up, even when I have something else with it. So, there it is. The place that feels like home, like when sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your naaaame, and they’re always glad you caaame.

And then the spring held lovely moments, like this:

While the days and nights most recently (not in the spring!) have been like the ones above, slightly cool with a nice breeze and clear, one can never really fault a person for wanting to do this in some sun, no matter the day:

We’re entering the season of nicer weather for a bit, but then the slow and sure colder, wetter weather will arrive. In the meantime, though, if you need a nice homemade vegetable soup, or craving an amazing caprese salad (ask for the green pesto or the sun-dried tomato honey spread), or perhaps desperate for a tasty bowl of pasta, QG is your one-stop shop for a nice meal and an even nicer staff. Swing by, tell them we sent you and of course … like them on Facebook. And if you don’t believe me, at least believe the other 44 amazing Facebook reviews. πŸ™‚
