Sometimes I wonder if my roots are so deeply ingrained that even my DNA cannot escape.
I didn’t always drink beer. One fateful night in an Irish pub in Salzburg did it for me. An Edelweiss after a slushy day of fresh heuriger white wine … after an adventure on the side of a mountain where we not only almost died, but were almost naked by the time we found the rest of the group … so hungry and thirsty upon arrival we devoured everything in sight … the night my life changed for good. The night I discovered I loved beer.
But, perhaps that’s a story for another time …. maybe over a drink? Who’s in? In the meantime, here’s a little more than enough beer to hold us over. Now, if you would, please excuse me while I go grab a drink.

Oh. That’s not beer. That’s amazing tangerine marmalade from Un altro colore & goats cheese from Ging’s Artisan Goats cheese) from my Brussels Food Friends goodie bag adventures. Join us this weekend?
Whoops. Neither is this … or the next photo, either. The bottle above is from a lovely much-needed dinner with a friend at Bocconi, here in Brussels at Hotel Amigo, that I visited during the Michelin RestoDays a while back. And the glass below, from the amazing Ethiopian honey wine from Kokob. They wouldn’t let us take the glasses, or buy them, or anything! A picture and a memory (or 20). That’s all I have.

It’s been kind of busy around these parts, but I do have a host of draft posts … I just need to upload them. Patience, darlings. Soon enough.
Bon week-end!
